The William Andrews Clark Memorial Library is a research library and historic property that supports research, teaching, exhibitions, and public programming. The grounds are open to the public for non-commercial activities as long as they do not interfere staff duties or put people or grounds at risk of injury or damage.

Tours of the Historic Library

The Clark does not currently offer regular public tours of the historic library. The best way to experience the Clark is through our exhibitions, lectures, concerts, and other public programs. Please visit our Events page for upcoming opportunities.

If public tours or other visiting opportunities become available, they will be announced on this page.

Private Events and Bookings

The Clark Library and its grounds are not available for private bookings, rentals, or private events.

Research Appointments

Researchers who wish to consult the Clark’s collections may request an appointment to use the Reading Room by following the instructions on our Research Appointments page.

Reading Room appointments are for research use of the collections and do not include a tour of the historic library.

Directions

The Clark Library is easily accessible from the 10 freeway via the Arlington Avenue exit. From points west, including UCLA’s main campus and LAX, turn right onto Arlington Avenue, left onto 25th Street, and right onto Cimarron Street. From points east, including Downtown Los Angeles and Pasadena, turn left onto Arlington Avenue, left onto 25th Street, and right onto Cimarron Street. The Clark’s main gate is located on Cimarron Street.

Parking

Free parking and bike racks are available on site.

On public transportation

The Line 37 bus travels east and west along Adams Boulevard—from downtown LA to Culver City— and stops right next to the Clark at Cimarron Street.

From the Metro D Line (Purple) rail station on Wilshire and Western catch Line 207 travelling south to Adams Blvd. From the Metro E Line (Expo) rail station at Expo and Western catch Line 207 travelling north to Adams Blvd. From Adams Blvd. you can either transfer to the 37 Line, the local DASH bus, or walk three blocks headed west to Cimarron Street.
