Searching our Collections

Clark Search is the best place to begin a search for materials in the Clark’s collections. This is a scoped search for only William Andrews Clark Memorial Library collection materials. To broaden your search to holdings of the entire UCLA Library system please use UCLA Library Search.

For manuscript collections, such as those of Oscar Wilde and Eric Gill, search the Clark’s finding aids in the Online Archive of California. Catalog records for other types of manuscripts—including bound as well as miscellaneous items—will also appear in Clark Search and in the card catalog at the Clark.

The following catalogs may also be useful for finding Clark materials:
WorldCat
English Short Title Catalogue

The Clark Library is revising our cataloging practices, checking records for accuracy and to eliminate, whenever possible, language that is biased or racist. See the full statement & reading list here: https://clarklibrary.ucla.edu/research/statementoncataloging

In addition, the Clark has several ongoing digitization projects that expand online access to its holdings. These include over 300 early modern English manuscripts and around 285 annotated early modern printed books digitized through CLIR and NEH grants, respectively. These collections, along with the Eric Gill Art Collection, are available through Calisphere and the UCLA Digital Library, with more items added as they are digitized.
