Requesting Materials and Appointments

Researchers must register with the Clark’s Aeon system to request collection materials and schedule a Reading Room appointment.

Register as a Researcher

If this is your first time using Aeon at the Clark:

  1. Go to the Clark Aeon login and registration page.
  2. Select UCLA Users or Non-UCLA Users, as appropriate.
  3. Click First Time User.
  4. Review and acknowledge the Clark’s Research Policies.
  5. Complete the New User Registration form and submit your information.

Once registered, you can use Aeon to request materials and schedule your visit.

Request Books and Other Cataloged Materials
  1. Log in to your Clark Aeon account.
  2. Select Request Through Library Catalog under Requests.
  3. Search Clark Search for the material you would like to consult.
  4. Open the item record and click Clark Library Request.
  5. Review the request information and complete any required fields.
  6. Select a Reading Room appointment in the Appointment field.
  7. Click Submit Request.

Repeat these steps for additional materials you would like to consult. Please assign all requests for the same visit to the same appointment.

Request Archival and Manuscript Materials

Many of the Clark’s archival and manuscript collections are described in the Online Archive of California (OAC).

  1. Log in to your Clark Aeon account.
  2. Select Request Through OAC Finding Aids under Requests.
  3. Search for a Clark collection and open its finding aid.
  4. Click Request Items.
  5. Select the boxes, folders, or other materials you wish to consult from the Contents List.
  6. Under Ready to Request?, select Yes, Send to Library.
  7. Select a Reading Room appointment in the Appointment field.
  8. Click Submit Request.
Before Your Visit

Please submit requests in advance whenever possible so that staff can prepare materials for your visit. Some materials may require additional time to retrieve or may have access restrictions.
