Public Tours and Events

Visitors are welcome on the grounds of the Clark Library every weekday, 9am–4:45pm (closed university holidays). Feel free to stroll along the paths, bring a picnic lunch, or read a book on the grass. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on leash. The grounds are closed on weekends.

The lower floor of the Library (reading room) is open weekdays, 9am-4:45pm, to all visitors who wish to conduct research using collection materials. Though the Clark is open to members of the public who need to use our collections, it is not a public library. The Clark Library is not equipped with public computers, public wifi, printers, or photocopiers. Because its collection focus is specialized, the Clark does not have most modern books, magazines, and newspapers typically held by public libraries. If your research requires the use of any of the above, we encourage you to visit one of the local public libraries near the Clark: Jefferson Library (2211 W Jefferson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90018) or the Washington Irving Branch Library (4117 W Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90018).

Please note that walk-in tours are not available due to limited staff resources. Tours are by limited appointment only. We do not offer tours on weekends or holidays, when the Library is closed. For more information contact clark@humnet.ucla.edu or call (310) 794-5155.

To attend an event at the Clark, please register in advance via the event’s webpage.
