The staff of the Clark Library and Center for 17th- and 18th-century Studies were saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and supporter Paul Clark Newell Jr., on 14 September 2016. A long-time champion of the Clark Library and passionate scholar of Clark family history, Newell was a second cousin of our library’s founder and the co-author of Empty Mansions, the biography of Huguette Clark published in 2013.
A full obituary can be read at the Empty Mansions website.
One of the highlights of my life was being allowed the privilege of giving him and co-author Bill Dedman a tour of the Clark family burial sites at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
