Paul Clark Newell (1936–2016)

The staff of the Clark Library and Center for 17th- and 18th-century Studies were saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and supporter Paul Clark Newell Jr., on 14 September 2016.  A long-time champion of the Clark Library and passionate scholar of Clark family history, Newell was a second cousin of our library’s founder and the co-author of Empty Mansions, the biography of Huguette Clark published in 2013.

One of the highlights of my life was being allowed the privilege of giving him and co-author Bill Dedman a tour of the Clark family burial sites at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
